A couple of months ago I wrote this post about Mini R becoming a Tumble Tot. He’s a few weeks into his second half term and absolutely loving it, so I thought I would write an update so you can see what he’s been up to!
The circuit is changed weekly so every week is new and different when he arrives which means it’s fresh and exciting for Mini R. When we arrived this week, the circuit was completely different, and more challenging. I wondered how L was deal with it all but he got stuck in and enjoyed himself.
Things Mini R has learnt so far at Tumble Tots:
- He is able to climb up a set of ladders about 5ft high with no fear. One of the lovely ladies at our Tumble Tots told me that toddlers don’t see the height, they see it like crawling.
- He is able to walk across a beam approximately 25cm wide.
- He knows how to put his hands down and tuck his head in when being helped to do a Roly Poly.
- He can jump on a trampoline.
- He can walk across stepping stones…this took some practice but he’s ace at it now!
- He is able to do the actions to Wind the Bobbin’ Up and a few other songs.
- He knows how to climb over the top of the ladder by swinging his leg over.
As you can see from the above list, Tumble Tots is massively beneficial for my son. It’s gorgeous to see his face on a Wednesday morning when I get his yellow t-shirt out and his face lights up and he exclaimed “Al!” because that’s his little mate who also goes to Tumble Tots. His favourite element of the classes is definitely the singing and dancing. He stands in the middle of the circle, dancing and doing to actions before shouting “YEY!” and clapping her hands at the end of every song.
One thing I have found is that he has become lazy at getting down the other side of the ladders and I spend my time catching him so he doesn’t fall and hurt himself but, if i encourage him to put his feet down, he can climb down them properly!
It was on the news this week that kids that go to Tumble Tots are less likely to fall off something and hurt themselves because they’ve been taught how to do it properly. Well if thats not motivation to keep taking him, I don’t know what is!
Does your son/daughter go to Tumble Tots? Do they love it? Comment below or contact me on Facebook or Twitter.

Hi there,
I run sessions from 6 months to school age. Have a look at my timetable at http://www.tumbletots.com/Wakefield to see if any suits. If your little one has just started walking Gymbabes would be a good start and then you can move to walking to 2 when walking confidently. Hope this helps.

What a smile! He’s certainly getting a lot out of classes. I didn’t know that children in gymnastics were less likely to get hurt in a fall but it makes perfect sense. My son is in gymnastics as well and loves it. We both enjoy going (there’s a cafe in the bottom of the studio so I always get a coffee treat and chat after!) Thanks for linking up with #YorkshireFamily

We had a taster session a while ago and my little one loved it! She was allowed to head up “the train” to the next circuit but got a bit excited and went off on her own little conga instead sending other infants skittling off in all directions… Oops! Great fun though. We’re hoping to sign her up properly next term. #justanotherlinky

I looked into tumble tots when Grace was small but chose a music and movement group instead – that said I think that anything like this at a young age is such a great thing. It sounds like he is having a great time. Thank you for linking to #PoCoLo x
