Tumble Tots are Go!

A couple of months ago I wrote this post about Mini R becoming a Tumble Tot. He’s a few weeks into his second half term and absolutely loving it, so I thought I would write an update so you can see what he’s been up to!

The circuit is changed weekly so every week is new and different when he arrives which means it’s fresh and exciting for Mini R. When we arrived this week, the circuit was completely different, and more challenging. I wondered how L was deal with it all but he got stuck in and enjoyed himself.

Things Mini R has learnt so far at Tumble Tots:

1. He is able to climb up a set of ladders about 5ft high with no fear. One of the lovely ladies at our Tumble Tots told me that toddlers don’t see the height, they see it like crawling.
2. He is able to walk across a beam approximately 25cm wide.
3. He knows how to put his hands down and tuck his head in when being helped to do a Roly Poly.
4. He can jump on a trampoline.
5. He can walk across stepping stones…this took some practice but he’s ace at it now!
6. He is able to do the actions to Wind the Bobbin’ Up and a few other songs.
7. He knows how to climb over the top of the ladder by swinging his leg over.

As you can see from the above list, Tumble Tots is massively beneficial for my son. It’s gorgeous to see his face on a Wednesday morning when I get his yellow t-shirt out and his face lights up and he exclaimed “Al!” because that’s his little mate who also goes to Tumble Tots. His favourite element of the classes is definitely the singing and dancing. He stands in the middle of the circle, dancing and doing to actions before shouting “YEY!” and clapping her hands at the end of every song.

One thing I have found is that he has become lazy at getting down the other side of the ladders and I spend my time catching him so he doesn’t fall and hurt himself but, if i encourage him to put his feet down, he can climb down them properly!

It was on the news this week that kids that go to Tumble Tots are less likely to fall off something and hurt themselves because they’ve been taught how to do it properly. Well if thats not motivation to keep taking him, I don’t know what is!
