December’s Featured Blogger: Emma from BrummyMummy of 2!

Can you believe we are already in December? Seriously, where has this year gone?! This post hosts the final Featured Blogger of the year. It’s the first time I’ve done a series and it’s been so lovely to connect with other bloggers and help promote their wonderful work monthly.
I want to say a huge thanks to all my Featured Bloggers:
  1. Phillipa from Sounding Like My Mother
  2. Stacey from Teaching Mum
  3. Charlene from Moderate Mum
  4. Maggie from Maestro Mummy
  5. Claire from Life, Love and Dirty Dishes
  6. Franca from A Moment with Franca
  7. Richard from Man Stays Home
  8. Carly from Bungalow Burn
  9. Sharon from After The Playground
  10. Matthew from Leeds Dad

My final instalment features a blogger that I have admired since I first began blogging, Emma from BrummyMummy of 2.

Like Franca from A Moment with Franca, I see her as a bit of a celebrity in the world of blogs and I’m extra appreciative of her taking part as she as recently undergone spinal surgery and not been very well. I’m wishing her a speedy recovery, and in the meantime I’m enjoying see pictures of her in her PJ’s and such like on Instagram. Like me, she is a teacher part time and I admire how she manages to juggle teaching, parenting and blogging – something I’m still working on! We both started our blogs for the same reason, an outlet to stimulate our brains after going on maternity leave from teaching therefore I can relate to her a lot and see us as kindred spirits a little!

Emma ran a weekly linky called “#Wicked Wednesdays” where you could hashtag pictures of your small ones getting up to mischief. It made me chuckle every week and also made me feel comforted that others were dealing with the tantrums that I was. Emma also has a YouTube channel which you can find here. Her most recent post ‘It Was The Best of Times…It Was The Worst of Times‘ shows just how crappy the last few months have been for her yet she still finds the time to smile and interact with her readers….plus the post shows just how much her readers and those interactions on her blog, Facebook page and Twitter account mean to her.

So her she is, Emma, it’s over to you….

1. Tell me a little more about your family…
I’m married to Stephen and have a three year old boy and a five year old girl. We live not far from the centre of Birmingham along with our dog Lucy and guniea pig Anna.

 2. What are the main themes of your blog?
My blog and YouTube channel is all about me just being me. So I could be chatting about anything from issues I face when being a parent to two small children to topics about being a woman in her late 30’s. Whilst I do do the odd review or sponsored post/video they all tie in with the theme about being a real Mum.

3. Why did you begin writing your blog?
I went from being a busy full time head of department in a school to working two days a week and I was bored. REALLY BORED. So when the kids were napping I decided to start! About six months after that I uploaded my first video and I’ve not looked back since.

4. What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
Firstly I have made so many wonderful friends around the country. Really like minded women who I chat to on a daily basis. Maybe over twitter, or DMs on Facebook or even going out for a gin on the evening. It’s wonderful. Secondly my children have had the most wonderful experiences and for that I will be forever grateful.

5. What’s your favourite activity to do with your children on a cold winter’s day?
My family love adventures so we would love to wrap up really warm and go out for the day. We are not the staying in kind as that usually results in all of us hating each other.
6. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory from your childhood?
Christmas at my parents hasn’t changed since I was born. Everything is the same and that’s what I love about it. You can set your clock by when the presents will be open, to when dinner will be done to when Dad will fall asleep. It’s wonderful.

7. What Christmas traditions do you continue with your children that your parents did with you?
Far. Too. Many. Presents. I go over the top. Like ridiculous. And every year I say “NEVER AGAIN” but every year I end up going bonkers with it. And my parents till get me bags and bags of gifts too. We really go hardcore.

8. New Years Eve Pre Children vs New Years Eve Post Children?
Urgh New Year is such an anti climax!!! And I’ve always thought that. With kids I do think going away for the evening is the best thing to do or else I’m asleep by 9:30pm.

9. Snog, Marry, Avoid: Buddy the Elf, The Grinch and Scrooge.
Snog: Scrooge
Marry: Buddy The Elf
Avoid: The Grinch

10. Do you have any New Years Resolutions?

2017 is the year I turn 40 so i intend to try everything and have no regrets!

Many thanks to Emma for being my final Featured Blogger, if you haven’t already, please visit her blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more of her antics…not forgetting her You Tube channel.

If you’ve commented, shared or been one of my bloggers for my Featured Blogger series, thank you for being part of it! It really is appreciated! Now to get thinking about a 2017 series….anyone got any ideas?!
