Relax & Sing, Wakefield

Educating Roversi-11

Every Thursday afternoon, Sienna and I walk five minutes down the road to a little community centre for her Relax and Sing session. It began as Baby Massage and, more recently as she has started to do more than lay on her back and look slack, the sessions have evolved to “Active Baby” with singing, toys and sensory stimulation…oh and cake, there is always cake and a cuppa.

What’s In A Name?

Like the little Shakespeare quote for the title? Now I’m no longer going to be a Drama teacher, I need to wedge the theatrical side of me into other stuff – ha ha! Continue reading

Happy Half A Year!

Educating Roversi-8

On the 21st June 2018, our daughter turned six months old. Quite honestly, I’m not sure where those months have disappeared to. I was intent on making the most of every minute of her being a baby and yet still, despite knowing and being prepare, the months have flown and every day she is becoming her own little person. This post is an update of her development from the last three months. Celebrating with bakerdays

Educating Roversi-7

The newest venture in my life, and the one that seems to be taking up a lot of my time (not that I’m complaining!) is my face painting business, Okie Dokie Face Painting. With it being very new (May this year) I’m looking for unique and fun ways of promoting it to the wider community therefore, when bakerdays contacted me about their letter box gift cakes, it was like a little lightbulb turned on above my head.

5 Songs With Meaning

Educating RoversiAnyone who knows me well will know that I love a good sing song. Mainly in private, in the car or whilst pottering around the house, however I have braved karaoke a couple of times occasionally and sung in the Staff Choir at work too. Music is important in my life and I love listening to a song that gives me goosebumps but I also love how listening to a song can bring back memories. With this in mind, I thought I would share 5 songs that mean something to me…

(Not so) Educating

Children_s-2Today I did something scary.

Today I did something that makes me uncomfortable.

Today I did something that made me feel liberated.

Today I did something that for the benefit of my mental health.

Today I did something to ensure I am the best Mum I can be.

Today I did something that means I will have to rely on my husband a little more.

The Guilt

Educating Roversi-2

Mum Guilt…that’s what a phone in on This Morning centred around. Stemming from the fact that one of the Kardashians had left her two month old baby to go to Coachella festival.

Firstly I have issues with the fact that so many things that should be relevant to parents in general are associated with Mum’s only. Whether you’re a Mum or a Dad, the guilt is real. Also, I’d posted on my Instagram stories that they may as well devote the entire programme to it because, let’s be honest, Parental Guilt isn’t just about leaving them is it? It literally embodies every part of being a Mum or Dad.

Wonderful Wakefield

Educating Roversi-2

Apart from four years when I resided in Huddersfield studying for my degree, Wakefield in West Yorkshire has been my home. Known to Shakey Wakey by lots, it has its fair share of dodgy areas but what city doesn’t?! I grew up in the “everyone knows everyone” village of Wrenthorpe, where we live as a family of four now, where I felt safe walking around with my friends at night, aged fifteen and where I now take my son to play in the park, aged thirty three. Review: The Milky Tee Company

Children_s

As my blog develops I’m looking forward to opportunities working with brands however it’s important to me that I’m plugging things that are appropriate to me, my audience and Educating Roversi as a blog.

Currently I’m exclusively breastfeeding my daughter, who was born in December 2017, so when I saw t-shirts made by The Milky Tee Company and decided to email and see if they fancied a collaboration. I was super excited to get a response from the founder, Lauren, only a few days later Continue reading

Marvellous Me Box

Children_s

At my son’s pre-school they have a little activity called “Marvellous Me’ box. The idea is that the child takes a plastic box home with him/her and fills it with things that are special to them before bringing it back to school where they are then encouraged to talk about what they have put in it to a small group.
